Active Lifestyle - Athlete Lynn Jung

Image
Lynn Jung won the best female 'Art of Motion' award from RedBull in 2016 and is becoming a house hold name within the sports industry. Mostly know for being a Parkour athlete, Lynn likes to practice actions sports outdoors. Like all athletes Lynn is strong and works out daily to build her strength, flexibility and balance. This includes practising Yoga to perfect her body balance and technique.  Lynn kindly answered a few questions about her story and wearing Active Therapy. Q When did you decide to become a athlete? I’ve always been relatively active and I never planned on making movement my profession but there’s something about parkour that got me hooked and cannot imagine doing anything other for a living than what I do now.  Q How do you feel about being in a male dominated industry? I honestly don’t mind it. Of course I wish there were more women in the sport but personally it doesn’t put me off that I mostly train and hang out with guys. Even thoug

Active Lifestyle - Yoga Challenge

Image
This Summer we decided to do a Yoga Challenge, collaborating with Melon & Lime Mats and Chant Malas . With Anna De Sousa as the host; Anna is a plant based blogger and yoga teacher in training, she believes in supporting ethical brands as she holds Eco friendly values. The theme of the Yoga Challenge was 'Heart Openers' (which was really close to our hearts) so we called it #summerheartopeners This included a variation of five yoga poses related to the theme. Anna flowed through each pose wearing Active Therapy Clothing, her balance and flexibility was astonishing. Yoga Challenges are nothing new to the Yoga industry but we wanted to do something a little different, something that was inclusive. We decided to do the challenge because we wanted to inspire and motivate those involved. Luckily we had a really positive response and many Yogi's world wide took part (for this we are very grateful), in different locations (from the sea, city to fields). Each da

Active Lifestyle - YITL

This month we launched in Yoga in the Lanes , with a fun packed day of free yoga classes and healthy food from You Juice to celebrate. The YITL yoga school is based in central Brighton and is the home of hot yoga among a mix of other yoga practices, such as Yin, Ashtanga and Conditioning. All classes help develop your posture, strength and flexibility. You can find our ethical activewear in the reception accompanying Chant Malas beautiful handmade beads. The two brands compliment each other as they both hold Eco friendly values and handmade qualities, both being produced in Brighton. The day welcomed all levels and every class was filled with both regulars at the school and beginners, supporting all on their yoga journey. A few classes offered yoga demonstrations by the teachers (Bridgett Ann the joint founder of the school with husband Simon). Which is much better than any YouTube video, giving a full insight into each posture and flow. Each attendee was offered hea

Active Lifestyle - Summer Smoothies

Image
If your based in England you know how relieved we are to see the sun! Summer time has come at last and the weather is brighter and warmer. So what better way to cool down then a smoothie, a delicious way to stay healthy. Whilst in England smoothie bowls have just been discovered, it's not new to warmer parts of the world where you can get summer fruits all year round. Places like Bali (Indonesia & Asia)  have fresh produce at there finger tips but this is only because people source their fruit from local farmers markets, which makes the produce really organic and natural (not from local super-markets like us Westerners). So if your thinking about making your own, it's really worth going to a farmers market at the right time of year or grow some berries in your back garden (we all went blueberry picking as children, right? Well it's time to start that past time again). The best smoothie's are always made with fresh fruit and produce (nuts, coconut chips and

Active Lifestyle - Essential Oil Therapy

Image
You can use essential oils in 3 ways; topically, internally and aromatically. Whilst oils can be a perfect relaxation method they can also be used to strengthen your immune system and physical health. Essential oils use Lavender, Melaleuca, Lemon, Oregano, Peppermint, Ginger and Frankincense (along with many more) to help the digestive system, sooth skin irritations, clear sinuses and relieve muscle pain. If you live a healthy lifestyle there is nothing worse then your own body stopping you from being active. To prevent this from happening we need to take all precautions and examine the different possibilities that may protect our wellbeing. Natural remedies are the oldest form of healing, they were used before doctors and chemists. Before the 13th century we used natural ointment as a form of medicine, the majority of the general public would go to their local witch doctor for these ointments. However this changed after the 13th century as the church branded them as magic
