Active Lifestyle - The Foundations of Yoga

Image
What are the eight foundations of Yoga? In the West we often focus on Asana, which is one of the eight foundations of yoga. Meaning different postures and poses. However there is a lot more to yoga then meets the eye. So while it's all well and good scowling through Instagram at impressive body poses and silhouettes, yoga is not a superficial hobby, in fact it's quite the opposite, it has depth and focuses on your mental and spiritual growth. More people across the world are acknowledging the benefits yoga has on their wellbeing and how this can make a positive impact on their mental and physical strength, therefore creating a better environment for all. Being conscientious and empathetic plays a big part in yoga, this is because in order to feel connected to the practice, you need to be connected to all and this can only be achieved though understanding and mindfulness (of the planet, environment and humanity). Active Lifestyle - Yoga Challenge

This Summer we decided to do a Yoga Challenge, collaborating with Melon & Lime Mats and Chant Malas . With Anna De Sousa as the host; Anna is a plant based blogger and yoga teacher in training, she believes in supporting ethical brands as she holds Eco friendly values. The YITL yoga school is based in central Brighton and is the home of hot yoga among a mix of other yoga practices, such as Yin, Ashtanga and Conditioning. All classes help develop your posture, strength and flexibility. You can find our ethical activewear in the reception accompanying Chant Malas beautiful handmade beads. The two brands compliment each other as they both hold Eco friendly values and handmade qualities, both being produced in Brighton. The day welcomed all levels and every class was filled with both regulars at the school and beginners, supporting all on their yoga journey. A few classes offered yoga demonstrations by the teachers (Bridgett Ann the joint founder of the school with husband Simon). Which is much better than any YouTube video, giving a full insight into each posture and flow. Each attendee was offered hea
